This project looks at the long-distance transport of endosomes via molecular motors in the hyphae of the fungus //Ustilago Maydis// . This long-distance transport mechanism is very similar to long-distance transport along the axons and dendrites of neurons. Thus by understanding how transport works in //Ustilago Maydis// we can better understand how transport works in neurons. We will hypothesize different systems for motor organization in //Ustilago Maydis// hyphae and then develop mathematical ODE models based on these systems. Our ODE models can then give us predictions for how different motor populations will be distributed in the hyphae.
